living in the village i don't have access to maple bars whenever my heart desires... and today was one of those days where i sure wanted one with my cuppa. so i decided i'd go for it and try to make my own. i was kinda nervous about it. i'd never attempted doughnuts before. (fry bread one time, but i was only a helper) the task seemed daunting.
so having never made these before, i was preparing myself for disappointment. i was in no way, shape, or form expecting them to be as good and glorious as a bakery maple bar. but can i just tell you friends, i surprised myself to almost tears, in utter disbelief, as i bit into my first ever morimade maple bar! it was GOOD! so so good. dangerously good! oh my!!
i found the recipe here.

Mori--those look fantastic...AND I am going to make/try them too! So, in the recipe--did you use the potato or not? Any other changes you made? off to get some maple flavoring! your mom is a wonderful mama!
Those look amazing!! My first doughnut memories are with your mom too! I remember when she would pick up Dana & I from school, and take us down to some place on Front Street to get a doughnut before going home!
Oh my goodness, they look lip smackingly good.......
I'm drooling now, never had one, never even heard of them here in Oz, but I've got the wanties, hehe....
