rhubarb bliss

one of my favorite things about summer..... RHUBARB. i love this stuff.... i always have. the first pie i ever made was rhubarb/strawberry pie...it's my favorite. i've been trying a few new rhubarb recipes...muffins, cast-iron strawberry-rhubarb pie, and rhubarb custard pie w/crumb topping....it's pure rhubarb bliss.

i didn't add the nuts the recipe called for, and if i was to make these again, i'd either add a glaze or a crumb topping. they were a bit to tart for me..but not bad.
delicious.
another mary jane's farm delight!
a new favorite.
it's really yummy.
i used the butter cookie crust from the mary jane's farm recipe above and it turned out good....
really really good.

qiviut cowl

we celebrated father's day a bit early since our man will be on the tundra instead of in the city.... the qiviut 'manly' cowl that i started here....was received with great surprise and appreciation. it turned out thick and warm and just right. since i doubled the yarn, i used about 3 oz. of my qiviut ..... i think it'll keep his neck and cheeks toasty warm this winter.

in transition...

all our belongings are in totes and boxes and we are spending the summer in the city. which means: lots of crafting with yayaa, moose in the yard on a regular basis, trees, green grass, cousins, yarn stores, and the SATURDAY MARKET! this saturday was our debut/trial run.

blueberry french toast casserole.

a new recipe, via mary jane's farm. this dish is nothing short than amazing. an easy dish to prepare the night before.. but the anticipation through the night is almost unbearable! i'm not a morning person... at all... but i jumped outta bed to get this yummy bake in the oven. it takes awhile in the baker....1hr. 15 min. but it's well worth the wait.

the next time i whip this up, i think i'll add some cinnamon and vanilla extract.
for the recipe... go here.
