After quite possibly a year of posting pretend blog entries, to my imaginary blog, I've decided to join reality.Welcome to Tundra Gypsy! I'm so, so happy to be here. I even have butterflies. Here you will find doses of all things mori made... things made by me, Mori. Anywhere from a crocheted hat, to a quick fix on a yard sale find, to the happenings of my lovelies, C and O.. and our life here on the tundra in northwest Alaska. Please stop by and visit now again!
my first batch of aqpik jam:
Aqpiks (in Inupiaq), aka salmon berries or cloud berries, are my favorite berries ever. Sadly, I did not find any fields of orange this summer and did not pick a single one. However, I did have a few ziploc bags full of last year's crop luring me to the freezer. I was craving aqpik jam. So I made jam, for the first time ever, and surprising it turned out good... REALLY good. Thick, sweet, yummy, orange goodness.
my first knitted blanket:
In the works friends, we have my first knitted blanket. I've crocheted a few in my lifetime.. but never knitted one. This one I've been working on for approximately 37 days. It's only a baby blanket, but I'm finding the task to be exhausting. I'm not a big project type of girl, I like the quick, easy, and you're done type. But here it is.. a simple stitch based on the gull lace stitch. I found the pattern by Ingride Aartun on ravelry.com. I'm about half way done. Whew.
And so I'm off to sit and knit, with a slice of toast and aqpik jam, feeling quite content. I just created a blog. My own, real, bona-fide blog.

Pete and I love the picture you have across the top. Pete decided that we need to have a blog too; he's trying to think of a name. I told him that he was suppose to think of a name for yours. Slacker. Tundra Gypsy is perrrrfect. Did you come up with it? Wish I was there to smack on some of that jam. Ayla and I went raspberry picking today. I was dreaming of tundra blueberries the whole time. They sure came early this year. Any blueberry jam in the works? I've been looking at tickets to visit you... who else flies to Nome besides AlaskaAir?
Hi Mori--welcome to the blogosphere! I had no idea you were so craft-talented! I love it. Can't wait for more updates on Nome life.
XO from San Francisco,
