The last time we went to Serpentine was the Friday after a Thanksgiving. I remember because I read Jurassic Park during that visit and it was eerie at night with all the rocks on the hills surrounding the cabin (while reading and thinking about dinosaurs). We had to be rescued on that trip because our plane blew loose from the ropes we'd tied to bushes during the storm that came in. We sat in the hot tub to stay warm and conserve wood.

The plane blew deep into willow bushes at the end of the runway. Hubby laughed at the amt of food I packed in (Thanksgiving leftovers, etc.) but we used every bit of it because we were stranded 3 days without the plane. Hubby talked to the fly over AK Air plane, who called the Nat'l Guard in Nome where hubby worked. The Guard guys dropped food to us from a helicopter but it was still too windy to land. Then they rescued us with a helicopter. A friend flew hubby back a few days later. They duct taped the plane where the wing tip and tail had been damaged and bent. And they flew home. The plane kept wanting to loop and crash because of the damage.
