pie crust.

whenever i make my own successful pie crust i feel this huge sense of satisfaction and pride. it's a bit silly really.. i mean.. it's just pie crust.. but still. pie crust from scratch makes me feel accomplished and real proud. i use a simple recipe shared with me by my aunt janet. i call it "aunt janet's pie crust" i don't know where it's from other than that. but this i what i do:
in a large bowl combine:
4 c flour
1 T. sugar
2 tsp salt
1 3/4 c shortening
 mix with a fork
add:
1 egg
1 T. vinegar
1/2 c cold water
blueberry pie. a favorite in this family. sweet, tart, juicy, blueberry goodness. this is why we put away so many blueberries for the winter...for blueberry pie, blueberry pancakes, blueberry crisp, blueberry muffins, blueberry jam, blueberry delight, blueberries with milk and sugar. we enjoy these treats all winter long. when it's 25 below outside with winds gusting to 35.. baking up something blueberryish takes us right back to those beautiful summer days on the tundra. it's soooo worth the hours and hours and hours of picking. stick around here and you'll be sure to see more blueberry goodness time and time again!

I couldn't agree more! There's nothing more delicious than tundra blueberry dessert. To me, making a successful crust from scratch is truly a MAJOR accomplishment. I love this post!

Looks delish, Mori. Did the two lovelies help with the design? Miss, all.

Beautiful blueberry pie and a great crust for it - the egg makes it nice and sturdy so it won't get soggy from the wonderful blueberry juice. A worthy accomplishment!!!

Looks wonderful! I think I use a very similar pie crust recipe. I just need some real blueberries. :)

yum!

ummm...confession time:

i was making a frittata, which has become a favorite breakfast, and did not have a pan that can be used in the oven.

so, as the recipe calls for, i sauteed up my veggies and was preparing the beautiful pie dish that you gave us...

i think that i had too many thing that i was trying to juggle, and mistakenly placed the dish on a hot burner (i had used for other stuff)...

literally 5 seconds later - "POP!" my pie dish cracked!!! i could've cried. it's a sliver of a crack, really, but probably enough where stuff can seep into and break it further. :(

c & i have looked into how we can fix it... no chance. i'm devastated. i love that pie dish.

...i recently bought a cast iron frying pan, wish i had it earlier...

with deep regrets, mmm
